Ureol
Ureol
Ureol was formerly a registered trademark of the Huntsman Corporation. However, the first polyurethane board was invented by Rudolf Rampf and not by Huntsman. At that time, it was sold via Ciba and Huntsman, which were distribution partners. Ureol is meanwhile a registered trademark of Bodo Möller Chemie GmbH.
The first Ureol modeling board – a quantum leap
The brown polyurethane modeling board developed by Rudolf Rampf in 1981 delivers maximum precision, calculable reliability, and cost-efficiency in processing, as the high dimensional stability ensures the influence of temperature and humidity can be controlled. The board boasts impressive reproducibility for measuring results down to hundredths – and even thousandths – of a millimeter. It replaces tropical timbers such as mahogany and therefore plays an important part in reducing deforestation. The board material UREOL goes on to become RAKU® TOOL, with which RAMPF Tooling Solutions advances to become the world’s largest producer of board materials.
Ureol modeling boards
Today, RAMPF distributes the original Ureol board under the RAKU® TOOL trademark. The brown modeling board is a cured semi-finished board made of polyurethane. It is not a natural product and therefore exhibits consistent chemical and mechanical qualities. The modeling board can be processed manually or machined.
The RAKU® TOOL product range includes three brown modeling boards with densities ranging from 0.6 to 0.72 g/cm3. Key applications are design, master, and data control models.
The advantages of RAKU® TOOL modeling boards at a glance:
- Very fine surface finish
- Homogeneous material quality, no fibrous structure like wood
- Excellent suitability for manual processing and machining
- Dimensionally stable thanks to low coefficient of thermal expansion
- Excellent quality “Made in Germany”
- Available immediately
- Adhesives specially matched to the board material
