RAMPF: Ground-breaking ceremony for new production facility in Grafenberg
4,000 square meters over two levels dedicated to the production of polyurethane and epoxy styling, modeling, and working boards
The RAMPF Group is expanding its production capacity at the Grafenberg site. The new facility will provide RAMPF Tooling Solutions with a total of 4,000 square meters over two levels for producing styling, modeling, and working boards made from polyurethane and epoxy.
“With both RAMPF Tooling Solutions and RAMPF Polymer Solutions showing excellent growth, we have decided to launch an additional production facility at our Grafenberg site,” explains RAMPF Holding CEO Matthias Rampf. “The new building will give both companies the physical capacity for further growth and also create new jobs.”
At a total cost of around EUR 11 million, the two-story production facility will provide an additional 4,000 square meters of space and is the largest investment that RAMPF has ever made. The facility will be built on land adjacent to the RAMPF Innovation Center.
Polyurethane and epoxy boards for the automotive, motorsports, aerospace, shipbuilding, and wind energy industries
RAMPF Tooling Solutions, one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of board and liquid materials for cutting-edge modeling and mold engineering, will use the new facility to produce styling, modeling, and working boards made from polyurethane and epoxy. These are used in original, cubing, and presentation models, as well as in design and form studies across industries including the automotive, motorsports, aerospace, shipbuilding, and wind energy sectors.
Optimized processes and new jobs
Once construction is complete, the production areas currently used by RAMPF Tooling Solutions and RAMPF Polymer Solutions will be handed over in full to RAMPF Polymer Solutions.
“The space that will be freed up when the new building is ready is crucial, as global demand for RAMPF casting resin systems for sealing, bonding, casting, and coating has significantly increased in the last few years,” says Matthias Rampf. “What’s more, the move will allow us to restructure and update the existing facilities so that we can further optimize our process chains.”
The expansion will also create new jobs: “The new production building will result in up to 15 new positions. The expansion in capacity at RAMPF Polymer Solutions will also lead to an increase in staff,” adds Matthias Rampf.
High energy efficiency
The RAMPF Group’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in the new production facility’s energy efficiency credentials. The expansion is being carried out in line with the KfW 55 standard rather than the German Energy Saving Ordinance (Energieeinsparverordnung – EnEV): “KfW 55 buildings have an annual primary energy requirement of just 55 percent of equivalent buildings constructed in line with EnEV,” explains Matthias Rampf. “Our expansion will therefore comply with an even higher standard than is legally required.”
A CHP unit will be used to supply energy for heating and production, and the installation of a photovoltaic system is currently under review.
The new production facility is set to be ready for use in mid-2017. It is already the third building which RAMPF has constructed together with the building company GOLDBECK Süd GmbH, Stuttgart.
The results of the 2015/16 financial year for the international RAMPF Group will be released in September 2016.
